The Ultimate Guide to Giving Your House a Deep Clean

Are you tired of the clutter in your house? Do you feel like your home needs a deep clean, but don’t know where to start? Don’t worry, you’re not alone! With our busy schedules, it can be tough to find time to clean our houses properly. However, a clean and tidy home not only looks better, but it can also improve our mental health and well-being. In this blog post, we’ll give you tips on what you need to get started on giving your house a deep clean. You can find all the products you need at Dutch Expat Shop!

1. Supplies to Have on Hand

Before diving into a deep clean, it’s important to have the necessary supplies on hand. Make sure you have cleaning products such as all-purpose cleaner, glass cleaner, and disinfectant wipes. You’ll also need microfibre cloths, a mop, broom, and vacuum. It’s a good idea to invest in a few organizing items like baskets and shelving as well.

2. Plan of Attack

To avoid feeling overwhelmed, it’s best to create a plan of attack. Break the cleaning process down by room or task. For example, start with decluttering and organizing your living room, then move on to the kitchen and bathrooms. It may also be helpful to make a checklist of what needs to be done in each room.

3. Decluttering

The first step of a deep clean is decluttering. Go through each room and sort items into piles of keep, donate/sell, and throw away. Use baskets or boxes to keep organized. Once you’ve gone through everything, take the donate/sell pile out of the house as soon as possible.

4. Deep Cleaning

Now that you’re left with just the items you want to keep, it’s time to deep clean. Dust every surface, including ceiling fans and window sills. Wipe down all surfaces with an all-purpose cleaner, and clean glass surfaces with glass cleaner. Don’t forget to clean appliances, mirrors, and baseboards.

5. Finishing Touches

The final step is adding finishing touches to each room. This may include adding a new throw blanket to the couch or putting out fresh flowers in a vase. These little touches can make a big difference in making your home feel refreshed and clean.
